When we try, we are showing effort. That’s really not a bad thing. But for some reason, the whole idea of trying has an incompleteness to it. It tells us that we make an effort, but somehow come up short of the goal. For me, sometimes try can be a bad word.
I try often. And often, I come up short. Trying puts me in the mindset of mediocrity. “It’s OK that I did do my best, at least I tried,” runs through my mind as I fall short of my accomplishments and goals. And instead of correcting myself, I fall prisoner to this line of thinking and fail to accommplish goal, after goal, after goal. Many of us are like that. Not just me.
Don’t Try, Just Do It!
For me, simply trying is never OK. I want to do, get it done and succeed beyond my wildest dreams. And, as I travel that journey, I want to help others along the way. My question to you then is simply, “Are you TRYING or are you DOING?” The Oakland Raiders of the Seventies used to have a motto. And it was simply, “Just do it, baby”. I want less trying and more doing.
If you want to be more successful in life and feel good even about yourself and your accomplishments, then stop trying! Start doing! Surround yourself with like-minded people, have them catch you in the act of “TRYING” and challenge you to accomplish your goals. If the great achievers in the world had simply tried, they would have been called “Triers” and not achievers. Achieve your dreams. Start today. STOP TRYING AND START DOING!
